The paintings begin from the ground, where everything begins. Not as metaphor. As fact.
I was raised in the Indian Himalayan valleys, under ridge lines that carry a particular quality of light at that altitude. In the mountains I watched the constant interplay between stillness and movement, and that contrast still runs the studio.
I build textured layers to represent solidity, and use splattering techniques to capture fluidity. Thick textural layers hold the grounded strength of the earth; geometric abstraction and fluid paint reach for the movement of water, light, and celestial objects.
The short film on the about page shows the ground itself, the valleys the work keeps returning to. This journal is where I’ll write the rest down: process, materials, and what the mountains keep teaching.
